Little Did I Know by Denis Kozlov

I met Rick Ives in 1994. In 1995 I felt God was telling me that I was supposed to help this missionary but I didn’t know how to approach it. Soon after, Rick announced that he would be moving back to the USA leaving the work behind  and passing it to the leaders that he rained.  Since I wasn’t one of them, I thought I had missed the opportunity to do what God was leading me and telling me to do.  I thought my work with RRR would be a nice memory.

Little did I know that God is not as near-sighted as I, and He had something much bigger, something long term that would bear much fruit in the years to come.  Back then, I could not imagine that one day I would be playing a prominent role in this work, and would be connecting God’s people from all over the world for the work of the kingdom. I would not have believed it if someone had told me that this work would take me to Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East. It is amazing to look back and see what God has done and is still doing through us, when we just allow Him to be what He really is – The Lord! I can’t begin to connect all the dots now, because I know God’s picture is still bigger than what I can see.

This year my involvement with RRR brought me to the Holy Land of Israel. This trip left a deep impression on me and made me realize that no matter what is going to happen with the USA, Russia, or the state of Israel politically, I know that spiritually Russian and American Christians will be joining forces to reach the world, especially God’s chosen people – the Jewish people, for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even

today the biggest percentage of Israelis that confess Jesus as their Messiah are Russian speaking Jews that returned to the promised land from the former Soviet Union. I couldn’t believe how many Russian speaking people live there today. In Tel-Aviv all the signs on the streets are in Hebrew and Russian, every other group of people I passed by were speaking Russian. Hudson Taylor, missionary to China, once prophesied about a great awakening that would start in Russia and from there would spread to other countries throughout the world prior to Christ’s second coming. I believe this will start taking place in our lifetime and Israel will be the epicenter of these events.

The work of RRR has always been based on personal relationships between people, not just between organizations…it’s biblical, it’s genuine and it’s powerful.

Another integral element of RRR is an emphasis on personal one-on-one biblical discipleship. Personal relationship and personal discipleship are not only one of the most efficient ways of doing mission work, but in many counties it might be the only way to do any Christian work. God used Pastor Grant to bring an awareness of the need to restore biblical discipleship in today’s church and He used RRR to equip many Russian pastors with a practical knowledge of how to build discipleship.

Since we are entering into a new decade of the ministry I see different pieces of the puzzle coming together in an exciting way. Jesus will be glorified in this work, just as he has been glorified in the previous 20 years.
