RRR: Past, Present & Future!

Rick Ives, Founder
I recently returned from a wonderful trip to Russia. During my time in St. Petersburg, my team and I met with many pastors and church leaders who are on the front lines in Russia advancing God’s Kingdom, even while the Russiangovernment continues to harass and persecute the churches. In Russia today, for example, all Evangelical and Protestant churches are officially classified as cults/sects. Only The Russian Orthodox Church and Islam are recognized by the government as “legitimate” religions. The doors continue to close.

Nevertheless, the pastors we met with—some of whom I have known since 1992—were all optimistic about God’s work and their future. These pastors have learned how to make things work in Russia, under very bad circumstances. I wanted to report to you that these great men and women all thanked us (RRR) for staying with them for 18 years. These Russian leaders tell us we are one of the only Western organizations who went to St. Petersburg and stayed, and many of them told me that our support over the years has helped make their ministries possible. And we still have much to do.

So, thank you! Here is just a recap of what you have helped to accomplish in Russia by partnering with us. In the early 1990s, the Iron Curtain and Soviet Union collapsed. In May of 1992, my wife, Heather, and I moved to Russia and lived there for 4 four years as full-time church-planting missionaries. We founded the ministry organization we fondly call, Russians Reaching Russians (RRR), and, today, 18 years later, RRR thrives and continues to make a deep impact under the direction of both US and Russian leadership.
Since 1992, RRR has helped:

Start over 40 churches. Most of which are still going strong
Lead over 60,000 Russians to salvation
Raise up and train numerous pastors and church leaders
Start the most effective prison ministry in all of Russia.
Send Russian missionaries to Syria, Jordan, Turkey, etc (yes, Syria!)
Start a network of Christian drug rehabilitation centers
Start a missions School to train and send out Russian workers
Start orphanage ministries and the first Christian foster care ministry in Russia

RRR is very focused for the future:

During our first years in Russia, we saw that there were no Christians, so we focused on evangelism.
Then, after a great deal of evangelistic efforts, there were Christians, but no pastors or churches, so we focused on training pastors and planting churches.
Today, there are pastors and a small number of churches, and our focus is now on continuing to plant churches and helping the Russian apostolic leaders who are reaching their countrymen for Christ (3 of whom serve on the RRR Board of Directors).

The work of RRR has gone far beyond what we could have ever imagined, and yet it is just beginning! All the Russian leaders agreed that our role there is more vital than ever.

Please continue to pray for this work and please continue to give. At this time, the Russian Ruble has devalued significantly and the dollar is once again very strong – so any monetary gifts you give now will go further than they have for several years.

Please help us now, while the doors are still open, while we can still be a big help.
