Today’s Prodigal Son’s Story by Denis Kozlov

One year ago, an American supporter of RRR introduced a biblical counseling and discipleship program to some of our Russian churches. In one of my previous articles, I conveyed how this material personally ministered to me and my family. Shortly thereafter, I began using it to help a number of people here in Russia, and I joyfully report to you that this ministry has had great impact on many Russians.
One RRR leader, Pastor Vladimir Osipov, was deeply touched by this program as well. In fact, he decided …

Сhurch in transition (by Denis Kozlov)

Church in Transition:

I recently visited Pastor Igor Sokolov, one of RRR’s leaders, to see how he and his church, Harvest Church, were doing.  During our time together, he told me how he completely changed the way the church conducts itself. As many of you know, most Russian Churches do not have a facility of their own where they can host activities. They typically rent a place to meet for the main services, which can be two or three times per week. So, the hope of most pastors and churches is …

Christ the Healer Today

Ivan Voronin is a young man from Pushkin who recently came to Christ and experienced deliverance from drug addiction. His amazing testimony shows a Christ who heals today just as He did 2000 years ago.
My name is Ivan Voronin. I was born on the 26th of April of 1984 in Komi Republic (northern region of Russia) in the town of Ukhta. I started taking drugs in 2000. In 2005 I ended up in a Christian rehabilitation center for drug-addicts and I went through the full rehabilitation program. I praised the …

Preaching in the rain

This month’s article comes to us from Pastor Igor Sokolov. Igor is the founder and senior pastor of Harvest Church in Saint Petersburg, which is a thriving community of believers with a passion and commitment to win the people of their city for Christ. You’ll notice that the strategy and tactics Igor and his church employ to preach the gospel are similar to what we do in America.
It was raining on Nevsky Avenue—the central street in downtown Saint Petersburg. We understood perfectly well that this kind of …

Good news from pastor Yura

This month’s spotlight on ministry is on Pastor Yura Troyanov. Pastor Yura has been a missionary, a pastor, and church planter for a number of years. He and his wife, Zhenia, moved to the city of Volkhov, which is situated three hours north of Saint Petersburg.
During their first two years in Volkhov, Pastor Yura and Zhenia laid the difficult groundwork for ministry, and their church took root and began to grow. As a church, they prayed and felt led to address the problem of drugs in their city. Drug addiction …

To Russia with love

We take the opportunity to share about what is taking place in Russia and to encourage prayer and support for the ongoing ministry. But, there are also opportunities to actually go and meet our Russian brothers and sisters in person. Opportunities are available for American Christians to go to Russian churches, stay in the homes of Russian Christians and minister alongside of Russians in their churches, orphanages, rehabilitation centers and on the streets.
Recently, a team from Ohio went to Russia, and the impressions of two members of that …

One by One (by Ray Willis)

2009 has been a banner year for Russians Reaching Russians. The vision of planting churches, raising up emerging leaders, and equipping Russian churches with practical tools and resources that help them build the Kingdom in Russia went into overdrive over the past twelve months.
In October, I had the opportunity to bring a team of people from Fellowship Christian Church in Springfield, Ohio, to Saint Petersburg for a time of ministry and discipleship training. Our team worked with two Churches that also operate drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers …

A MAN NAMED YAN – AND A TRUE MIRACLE!

When I first met Yan Volkov in the early 1990s; he was a skinny kid with blond hair serving time in a Russian prison. Needless to say, not the picture of potential! When I lived in Russia, I used to go into prisons to minister the Gospel of Jesus, and that’s how I ended up meeting Yan. Sometime during his sentence, Yan gave his life to the Lord Jesus. Many prisoners do this, of course, but not many change in the kind of dramatic way that Yan did.
After …
